Earlier today a member of my fan club insisted that I update this blog, and since I have said from the very beginning that this blog would be nothing if not for my fans, I am proceeding to do so now. Now it's the end of a three-day weekend that is related to a holiday celebrating America's independence, and I am still at a loss why we don't commemorate the victory at the Battle of Yorktown as the true Independence Day, since that is when we actually secured our independence. Okay, it wasn't we. It was whole different country back then. Why does each of the thirteen colonies get a stripe in addition to the star? What makes Delaware any more prominent than say, California?
Yesterday we had some visitors from the Borough and County of Queens. We took them to Cove Island Park, where there were a little too many Russian beachgoers for my liking. OK, I just realized why I haven't updated the blog in a while. There's really nothing to tell. Let's see, what else can I put here? Maybe I'll just number my random thoughts:
1. I would like to see high-speed train service between Chicago and Atlanta.
2. I could see fireworks from both Connecticut and New York this weekend.
3. I should remember to shave tomorrow morning before I head out to work.
4. Why do we need remakes of films? What's the point?
5. Have you ever committed any crimes for which you have not been arrested?
6. Why do people think Billy Corgan's new album is so horrible? Did they expect more of him?
7. Why was it called Live 8? Were there eight concerts? Or is it because of G-8?
8. This list is stupid. It might be the corniest thing I have ever done since interrupting a meeting with the following remark:
Me: What's the best Thai restaurant in town?
They: What?
Me: It's a Thai.
9. Why oh why does Ninth Avenue become Columbus Avenue, Tenth Avenue becomes Amsterdam Avenue and Eleventh Avenue become West End Avenue north of West 59th Street?
10. Antonin is probably not his real first name.
